Square Root Academy is a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based non-profit organization dedicated to educating underrepresented youth on the fundamentals of S.T.E.M. while emphasizing collaborative learning, innovation, and academic excellence.


This goal is executed under our three key pillars: Community involvement, project based learning, and professional S.T.E.M. exposure. We expose Academy scholars to the growing field of S.T.E.M at no cost,  while promoting creativity, leadership, and academic excellence.

After School Exploration

Our STEM Enrichment Series offers after school programming with fun STEM activities for scholars 5th through 12th grade.

NGSS Knowledge Gains

All curriculum is built around Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) guaranteeing scholars are ready for the careers of the future. 

Led by Certified Mentors

ALL learning sessions are led by ABET Accredited mentors on no more than a 1:7 mentor to scholar ratio, to provide the individualized attention scholars deserve.

In partnership with Pro Youth and Families we have been able to hire ELEVEN paid (that's right, paid) interns to join our team! Through this experience interns will gain work-based learning and skills by helping us in our programs such as our classes on Scholar's Playground. NorCal Cyber Stories program & Free computers!

This month we had the EXCITING opportunity to provide personal computers and hotspots to participants in our NorCal Cyber Stories program at no cost, with the help of our friends at Sacramento County Office of Education. Thank you to SCOE for providing the tech to our scholars and supporting our efforts to close the digital divide, one scholar at a time. 

Square Root Academy at Lab 7

Lab 7 is opening its doors again for STEM learning in August! Following guidelines set forth by the California Public Health Department, we will be back at it with our project based learning teaching through lessons on circuit boards, programming, web design, and engineering for 5th-8th grade scholars. Scholars will have the opportunity to develop industry-level skills in technology, foster relationships with like-minded STEM enthusiasts, and create a final project to take home!
