I aspired to work in an area that interested me, and so I got into chemistry! My favorite part is being able to analyze unknown compounds and characterize them. But in addition to the science, I wanted to increase the representation of women and people of color in STEM fields.

In eighth grade, I watched a film called Stand and Deliver (a movie I totally recommend!) where a math teacher motivates low income Latino students to learn math and pass their AP Calculus exams despite all odds. The way this teacher selflessly impacts these students drives my passion for math and teaching.
