STEAM DIY Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

In the role of STEAM DIY Intern, you will report directly to the Operations Coordinator and assist the Programs Manager in the research and development of STEAM based DIY experiments that include a science lesson and discussion prompts for the Square Root Academy DIY SCI video series. DIY SCI experiments should follow NGSS standards while engaging scholars to participate in STEAM activities at home.

Compensation: $500 stipend/4 weeks

Commitment: 5-10 hours/week

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research STEAM DIY experiments 

  • Develop STEAM DIY experiments 

  • Collaborate with fellow interns to film and produce DIY experiment videos for YouTube 

  • Assist with capturing video and photo content of DIY experiment for social media 

  • Ensure that DIY science experiments meet Next Generation Science Standards 

  • Providing production assistance during video filming

  • Task management

  • Attend weekly virtual meetings 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent research skills

  • Experience working with children

  • Experience

  • Knowledge of DIY videos 

  • Knowledge of wealth and education disparities in underserved communities

  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Docs, and Gmail
