POSITION OVERVIEW
The Scholar Mentor guides the educational experience of our Scholars through encouragement, positivism, and leadership. The Scholar Mentor supports the Scholars’ growth in the exploration and understanding of STEM fundamentals in a classroom setting. This position is vital to the academic and developmental success of our Scholars.
Right now we are seeking Scholar Mentors to staff two of our summer programs. These positions are for the term of 1-3 months, and have the potential to become year-round openings (pending organization need and Scholar Mentor performance).
5-8 positions available.
Compensation: $14.00-$16.00/Hour (D.O.E)
Commitment: 20-30 Hours/Week (Mon-Fri)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Timely attendance of weekly team meetings

Timely attendance of daily class sessions working with 9-12th grade students

Monitor student teams during classroom activities

Occasionally lead project-based workshops during class sessions

Maintain a professional and polished appearance at all class sessions, team meetings, and any Academy related events

Embody and promote the Square Root Academy culture and values

Support Program Leads with duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Have obtained or studying to obtain Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field

If still in school, must be in third year of STEM related program

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience working with children preferred, but not required

Knowledge of achievement gap and education disparity or desire to learn more and contribute to change

Passion for STEM education

Have a team-oriented mindset
