Grant Writer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Grant Writer is responsible for securing funding for Square Root Academy by using excellent written and verbal communication, strategy and understanding the Academy’s mission and vision.

Compensation: $14.00-$16.00/Hour (D.O.E)

Commitment: 10-15 Hours/Week 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generates revenue for the Academy through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well documented grant/fund-raising proposals

  • Maintains and implements funding calendar activities

  • Writes reports to government, corporate, foundations, and other funders

  • Conducts research and identifies funding opportunities and new program areas to match the Academy’s priorities and goals

  • Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with funding contacts and Academy officers

  • Assists in the planning of fundraising campaigns

  • Promotes the Academy through public relations work

  • Corresponds with Executive Director on weekly basis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of nonprofit organizational structure

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent research skills

  • Knowledge of wealth and education disparities in underserved communities

  • Basic understanding of STEM workforce & STEM education
