COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING COORDINATOR
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing communications strategies to raise awareness and increase engagement with Square Root Academy’s social media profiles, events, and programs. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the executive, and programs team to develop marketing strategies for all of Square Root Academy’s external communication channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, newsletters, press releases and the Square Root Academy website. They will also work closely with the executive team to support fundraising efforts. Additionally, they will act as the liaison for community outreach, and public inquiries.
Compensation: $45,000-$50,000/yr (D.O.E)
Commitment: 40 Hours/Week
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and develop strategies for marketing and communications campaigns to increase awareness of Square Root Academy

Manage all social media channels, website, e-newsletter, blogs, articles etc

Maintain record of engagement and growth across social media platforms as defined by quarterly goals

Develop and maintain monthly social media calendar

Ensure that Square Root Academy branding and voice is consistent across all mediums

Manage and continuously update organizations press list
-
Pitch media outlets for coverage of public statements, programming and events

Coordinate marketing outreach for programs and events to partners, sites, and stakeholders in partnership with education and development team

Develop and maintain online events calendar

Maintain records of all Square Root Academy visual assets including photos, videos, fliers, and branding assets

Take photographs and videos of programs and events

Research and implement new social media strategies and trends

Collaborate closely with Director of Development to meet fundraising goals

Maintain website updates and create content for bi-weekly e-newsletters

Coordinate digital presence for special campaigns and event marketing

Provide support for special events

Oversee Hootsuite
-
Other duties as assigned to meet the organizational goals

Develop and oversee marketing strategy for soliciting sponsorship and donation, bringing individuals and organizations from initial contact to tangible supporters by way of contribution.

Vet media inquiries for Executive Director and other designated spokesperson

Design, implement, and manage 3rd party and passive fundraising efforts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least two years of applicable college coursework and/or marketing work experience

Excellent verbal and written communication

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work efficiently in loosely structured work environment

Ability to work both independently and cohesively in a team environment

Experience with project, schedule, and communications management

Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites, and internet navigation and applications

Ability to ensure professionalism, integrity, consistency, and accuracy in information management and communications

Ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately

Valid California driver’s license
-
Strong personal ethics and alignment with Square Root Academy values

Understanding of nonprofit organizational structure

Background in business, marketing, or management preferred

Excellent research skills

Knowledge of wealth and education disparities in underserved communities

Able to strategize and lead new initiatives in a team environment
