Curriculum Design Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

As Distance Learning Curriculum Specialist, your role is to craft dynamic, interactive, STEAM lessons while incorporating Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) for youth aged 5th - 12th grade bringing a fusion of streamer and educator to the online learning space. Additionally, the Distance Learning Curriculum Specialist will be responsible for training new hires and external parties through professional development workshops.

Compensation: $17-$20/Hr (DOE)

Commitment: 25-35 Hrs/Week

Travel: Some

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Convert existing lessons to high quality distance learning offerings using OBS such as Nearpod & Stream elements

  • Craft detailed documentation of how to use

  • Create materials list for items needed in order to ensure cohesive set up.

  • Weekly PD’s to education team to instruct how to use hardware and software involved

  • Maintaining timeline as developed by ED

  • Develop reports detailing the results utilizing both quantifiable and abstract measurements

  • Ensure records are kept of attendance, partner participation, etc.

  • Maintain calendar for projects

  • Weekly reports to executive team regarding progress

  • Assist in curriculum development for STEM Enrichment Series II, our advanced STEM course offering.

  • Lead Summer courses and special programs such as robotics, renewable energy, etc.

  • Develop lessons centered around STEM across multiple disciplines

  • Create AaGs, brief summaries of each lesson detailing the materials required, standards met, and overview of learning goals

  • Create projects associated with lessons and work closely with the branding team to use for promotional material such as YouTube videos

  • and social media posts

  • Train new hires appropriate teaching techniques and methods

  • Facilitate training of external parties through professional development

  • Assisting in the development of path specific programs (drones, community maker projects, hydroponics, etc.)

  • Assist in the retention and attainment of new clientele for professional development

  • Present at conferences

  • Actively pursue certifications in the STEM realm that can be acquired by Academy scholars

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in streaming and strong understanding of streaming technologies

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Effective time management

  • Capable of managing budgets of 15K + via finance tracking software / systems

  • Understanding of nonprofit organizational structure

  • Excellent research skills

  • Knowledge of wealth and education disparities in underserved communities

  • Strategize and lead new initiatives in a team environment

  • Experience with coding logic

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Familiarity with NGSS
