STEAM Events Curator Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Operations, the STEAM Events Curator Intern is responsible for the activation, training, and management based activities within the organization. Be it a S.T.E.A.M. toy drive or a Festival in the park with drones and tech goodness, our team of superstar volunteers are a core part of the team and help push the mission forward in several regards. As such the STEAM Events Curator Intern will coordinate and deploy the team on a regular basis and serve as the relationship manager for the team.

 

AmeriCorps

Americorps engages more than 80,000 community members nation-wide,  in intensive service each year at non profits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. 

Compensation: $2,000.00 USD stipend / Month

Commitment: ~ 30 Hrs/Week

Travel: Some

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage administrative tasks as needed/assigned, includes organizing documents and files, word processing, mail distribution, data collection and entry, and maintaining office inventories

  • Support the onboarding and training of volunteers

  • Oversees and coordinates volunteer meetings

  • Provide coordination support for special events leveraging volunteers

  • Responsible for maintaining communication with volunteer pool

  • Coordinate with marketing team for assistance in recruiting campaigns 

  • Attend site visits to class occasionally 

  • Attend tabling events to recruit community volunteers for the STEAM based programming

  • Arrange travel and lodging for volunteer staff as needed

  • Coordinate volunteer online teaching programs from industry partners such as Intel, SMUD, Verizon, and others.

  • Collect and maintain volunteer records

  • Collect data as it pertains to volunteer driven efforts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of nonprofit organizational structure

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent research skills

  • Knowledge of wealth and education disparities in underserved communities

  • Strategize and lead new initiatives in a team environment

  • Familiarity with Asana

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
